Building your own course

Can I build my own Checkology course?

Yes! You can assign or customize preset courses on Checkology or you can build your own course from scratch. To build your own course, click "Change course" in the course management area and scroll down until you see "Would you like to build your own course?" Then, click the "Get started" button to go to the course builder. 

Step-by-step guide to building your own course

Follow these 5 steps to build your own Checkology course from scratch:

1. Navigate to the course management area.

   You can find the "+ Assign course" button in two places:

   Under the student registration prompt On your Dashboard class tile 

   

   

2. Click "Change course."

   Once in the course management area, click on "Change course." This will bring you to a new window where you can preview/assign other custom courses you have created and preset courses created by NLP or build your own course.

   

3. Scroll down and click "Get started."

   Scroll to the bottom of the window and click the "Get started" button.

   

4. Give your new course a name/description.

   Give your course a name and add a description (optional). When ready, click "Save" to be taken to the course builder.

   

5. Build your course.

   To build your course, simply drag and drop content from the left column (Content library) to the right column (Your course). You can also remove or change the order of content in your course. 

   

   Here is a quick summary how to use each course builder function:

   • To add content, drag and drop the content you wish to add from the library (left side) to the course (right side).
   • To remove content, click the  next to the content you wish to remove in your course (right side). This will return it to the library (left side).
   • To change the order of content, click and drag content up or down within your course (right side).

     Please note: your customized course will automatically be assigned to your class as indicated by the grey "Assigned" image at the top of the screen.

   Depending on what content you add to your course, you may at times see this popup message:

   

   This message indicates that there is other content available that is related to the lesson you selected. If you click "Yes," that content will automatically be dropped into your course immediately following the related lesson.
